Wet and Dry Risers Typical Dry Riser Sectional View

JP Fire Protection Systems Ltd

We can Design, Supply and Install Wet and Dry Riser Systems.

Dry Risers are vertical mains, named because they are normally dry and empty of water.

These are normally installed in Fire Escape Staircases with an Infill (Breeching Valve) at the bottom on the outside of the building and Landing Valves (normally on every other landing) until such time as the Fire Brigade are called to a fire in the building and they then couple the breaching valve upto their Fire Tender or a nearby Fire Hydrant thus transferring water up to each landing within the building.

Wet risers are very similar except they are charged with water at all times from either a pumped supply, or if the towns main supply is adequate, then directly from that.
